An Event with a Cause Hosted by AtrimusRX's at Grand Hotel, Stockholm

We had the privilege to attend AtrimusRx event at Grand Hotel in Stockholm last week. The event, which drew a broad audience from the industry, showcased how automated manufacturing methods inspired by 3D printing technology is revolutionizing personalized medicines.

AtrimusRx supplies hospitals, pharmacies and patients with vital medicines that are not commercially available due to shortages and de-registrations. These so-called unlicensed medicines can be alternatives to medications which are temporarily on shortage, the latest FDA/EMA-approved cancer treatments that have not yet been launched in certain markets, oral solutions for the elderly who cannot swallow capsules and tablets, and compounded medicines for children who are allergic to specific excipients.

Held at Grand Hotel Stockholm the event presented an exciting glimpse into the future of personalized medicines. CurifyLabs Founders, CEO Charlotta Topelius and CTO Niklas Sandler Topelius had the pleasure to present The Pharma Kit technology and speak about the unmet need within manufacturing personalized medicine.

All participants had the chance to test placebo chewable tablets made with CurifyLabs technology.

AtrimusRX: Addressing Medicine Shortages and Unlicensed Medicines

Medicine shortages occur when the Marketing Authorization Holder (MAH) is unable to supply a medication, often due to manufacturing issues, active substance shortages, or commercial decisions to cease sales. In such cases, healthcare professionals and authorities work together to find alternatives.

When no approved equivalent is available, EU Directive 2001/83/EC allows physicians to prescribe medicines not available locally but approved in other countries. This might happen when a drug is on shortage, de-registered, or if the patient needs a treatment not yet launched locally.

As medicine shortages become a global issue, finding reliable and timely solutions is increasingly complex. Compounding is often part of the solution.
