Meet Niklas Sandler Topelius, the inventor of Curify's technology!
Why did you decide to build Curify?
I worked many years in the pharmaceutical industry and I always wondered how nobody had a solution for personalized drug treatments. As we say, one size doesn’t fit all, yet many patient groups are treated with the same amount, form, dosage form, taste of the drug. If you look at for an example clothing – there’s size and material for a chiauhua and grown up man. But when it comes to drugs – this is not always the case. There are few options available and if you don’t fit into the available treatment forms – you have a problem.
The topic is difficult and complex – pharmaceuticals need to be regulated and when personalized treatments are manufactured there’s close to no quality assurance available. This leads to poor treatments and lack of treatment options, since it’s hard to manufacture on-demand drugs.
I believe Curify can completely chance this. I have researched ways to manufacture on-demand drugs during 10 years and know that our TailoredCure Technology opens up better treatment options and better manufacturing premises for pharmacists. Pharmaceuticals should not be sold as one size fits all and there’s a reason for high control and regulation. Curify’s Medicine as a Service concept will help pharmacists do what they are needed for and it also helps regulators with their hard work. It’s a triple win – for patients, pharmacists and the regulator and I’m happy to be part of this revolutionizing journey.
What does a regular working day look like for you?
I work full time as CTO of Nanoform and currently sit in the Board of Curify.
What is your favourite animal?
I’m a cat man. I guess I share the same personality with cats, I don’t mind spending time alone and have a curious mindset towards problem solving in general. You can also find me crawling on the floor with our dog.
